Dental Bridges

What is a bridge?

A dental bridge is a restoration that can replace one or more missing teeth. If you are interested in a tooth replacement that is stable, long-lasting, and natural-looking, a bridge may be just what you need. While there are three main types of bridges available, the most common kind of dental bridge in Centennial, Colorado, is known as a traditional bridge. A traditional dental bridge is composed of two dental crowns and one pontic, or artificial tooth (if multiple teeth are being replaced, the bridge will include multiple pontics). The crowns are attached to the remaining natural teeth adjacent to the gap or to dental implants in order to anchor the pontics in place. Because the bridge is created from impressions of your teeth, your restoration will blend in with your smile’s appearance and look natural. This is also a very secure restoration because it is attached to the natural teeth or implants.

Do I need a bridge?

Dr. Scott Lindsay may recommend a bridge if you are searching for a tooth replacement that:

  • Restores your ability to comfortably eat, speak, and chew as normal
  • Prevents the remaining natural teeth from drifting out of place
  • Alleviates uneven stress on the bite
  • Replaces an unwanted removable partial denture
  • Enhances the natural beauty of your smile
