What is sedation dentistry?
Our caring dentist and dental team understand that not everyone feels at home in the dental office. We want to provide you with a dental experience that is comfortable and relaxing, even if you suffer from dental anxiety. To make this possible, we offer sedation dentistry in Centennial, Colorado. Sedation dentistry involves using sedative medications and techniques to provide you with a more positive and enjoyable experience at our office. There are three main forms of sedation dentistry available to you at Peak Dental Care:
- Nitrous oxide — Sometimes called laughing gas, nitrous oxide is a gas that is mixed with oxygen. You then inhale this nitrous and oxygen mixture during your treatment to help you feel more at ease. Nitrous oxide is a mild form of sedation; you will not sleep, and you will be able to safely drive yourself home following your appointment.
- Oral sedation — This form of sedation involves taking a prescribed pill before your appointment with Dr. Scott Lindsay. By the time of your treatment, you will feel calm and relaxed. Oral sedation is a form of conscious sedation, meaning it will not make you unconscious, but it is normal if you do not remember all of the details of your visit.
- IV sedation — This method allows our dentist to deliver the sedative directly to your bloodstream via an IV. IV sedation gives us the ability to easily adjust the level of sedation to enhance your comfort.
Dr. Scott Lindsay will help you determine which form of sedation will best meet your personal needs and desires. You can rest assured that we will closely monitor your safety and comfort; we are dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dental experience. Call us today to learn more!
